About the event
We will stand together peacefully and visibly to show we have not forgotten that Missouri has become a forced birth state since the overturning of Roe v. Wade.
Several months ago an eleven-year-old girl, Amelia, talked with her mom Jessie Spaans about the abortion ban in Missouri. She came to the conclusion that if she were seen in a supermarket and pregnant, people would judge her. They would be shocked and not fully understand what could have happened to her yet she'd be forced to carry the pregnancy.
Amelia got the brave idea for girls her age and teens to speak with the press so their concerns would be heard and Missourians would see the reality of what the cruel abortion ban is doing to them. We are inviting women and girls ages 11-21 to speak at this event. Speakers under 18 will need permission from a legal guardian. Email Tara Anura at prochoicemidmissouri@gmail.com if you would like to speak.
A booth will be available for participants to register to vote and find out who their local pro-choice candidates are. Free snacks and water provided.
Plans are being made for event security.
This event is part of the Women's Strike! Please wear red. If you can, take off from work that day and do not make any purchases. You can picnic on the South Lawn.
